Visualization of your goals is one of the best ways to move towards achieving your dream life in the new year. One of the most fun ways to do that is by creating a dance vision board. This post will guide you to creating your vision board to start living your best dancer life in 2023!
Setting Goals for Your Best Dancer Life
Before sitting down to create your vision board, ask yourself about your goals, dreams, and ideas for the new year. What plans do you already have in place? What are some things you wish to continue from last year? What do your goals involve? Which goals are tangible and which goals are intangible?
However you define your goals for the next year, both in and outside of dance, make a list in some form before sitting down to create your vision board. This will help you gather some idea of how you can represent these goals on your vision board.
Getting Started- Choosing Your Vision Board Format
How you choose to create your vision board should be based in a format that is easily accessible for you as you take action to achieve your goals throughout the year. I recommend something that you will see everyday such as a wallpaper or lock screen, poster, or as the cover of a journal.
This year, I chose my desktop wallpaper but I also plan on creating a copy for my tablet and phone.

Creating Your Board
Whether you create your board with physical materials or online is up to you. I use Canva to create mine. They have plenty of templates, graphics, photos, and elements to choose from to create your personal vision board. They have templates that will fit your wallpaper size perfectly and even some vision board examples for you to use or reference as you get started.
If you create a physical vision board with a collage of materials, I recommend using some form of strong poster board or cork board. To protect your board after completing it try using some plastic page protectors or even cutting up clear plastic bags to protect your board from any sort of wear and tear.
Representing Visions of Your Best Dancer Life
Now that you have an idea of how you are going to create your vision board you can start adding your goals and ideas for the year. Since a vision board is a representation of your goals get creative for how you can show your goals visually.
Think of some words that describe your goals.
On my vision board I used words and phrases such as joyful, perform, dream big, success, and iconic to describe my goals in dance for 2023.
Choose Images that represent your goals.
I plan on going to New York this year for research in dance so I chose images that reflect that. For dance performance, I chose images of dancers living their best life to show how I want to continue my confidence with dance this year. Finally, for my website I used images of someone with a computer and journal to show how I want to focus on building content this year through this blog.
Keep it Real
As you add your hopes and dreams, remember that your board should be a representation of who you are. Even as you aspire to achieve new goals you are still authentically yourself so set up your board as a reflection of who you are.
Use your favorite colors and shapes. Do you like designs to be cohesive? Do you like to be more out of the box with your ideas? If you love glitter, use it. Love flowers? Use them! If you love black and white images, use them. Make your board something you love and can be proud of, no one else has to see it.

Get Moving!
Once you’ve completed your board, place it wherever it will be effective for you. This way it will be a reminder of the new year and possibility you have set in place.
Remember, you don’t have to try and accomplish everything on your board. Your board is simply a representation of your aspirations. With a positive mindset to create a board you have the right mindset to have a great year.
As long as you keep moving and see the possibility dancing can bring, you have already begun your best dancer life! A great journey awaits so get creating, get moving, and dance on.
