There is a reason this dance inspiration tip it number one because it is CRUCIAL to being able to find any inspiration. Know that YOU are a unique dancer with unique capabilities and ideas. No one, not you dance friends, teachers, or dancers on social media are quite like you.
2. Improvise
Allow yourself to just move and explore how you feel through movement. Let your improvisation develop authentically and see what happens while you move.
You might find that as you improv, you move and develop your movement in new, unique ways you wouldn’t typically in dance class.
3. Watch Dance Videos
Watching dance videos is a great way to find inspiration and ideas. Try watching a variety of videos from competitions to ballets to see what inspires you. Dance inspiration videos can be found almost anywhere online!

Reading dance quotes and movtivational quotes is an amazing way to find inspiration as a dancer. Find a quote that motivates and inspires you, write it down and reference it when you need a little extra encouragement.

6. Use Affirmations
Affirmations are a great way to feel inspired and confident whether you use them when dancing or not. Whenever I tell myself I am proud of myself or that I CAN do big, or even scary things I find I start to believe it.
Affirmations can make you feel so much more confident as both a dancer and human being.

7. Listen to Music
Whenever I listen to music and want to get up and dance, I realize why I love dancing. Music can give us so much inspiration.
So turn on your favorite song or a random playlist and see how you feel inspired to dance.

Reading about dance and dancers is a great way to find some new inspiration and insight into the world of dance. There are so many books, online magazines, and more outlets where you can read all about dance to find inspiration for your own dance life.

9. Find your favorite dancers
When you find the dancers that inspire you I truly believe your entire dance world can change. You can find dancers to look up to almost anywhere in the age of social media.
You can find dancers on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, and more.
When you find a dancer you admire, think about what it is you admire about them. What makes them attractive to you? Once you think about that, you can then start to find ways to take those qualities on or develop your own unique dance qualities to be an inspired dancer.
Reminder: Don’t compare yourself to your favorite dancer!!! You are unique just like them and shouldn’t try or need to be just like them.
10. Try Something New
Try out a new activity in or outside of your dance life. When you try something new you are opened up to a world of new and exciting possibilities. There is so much you can learn from a new opportunity that you can bring into your life for dance inspiration.
11. Watch a Dance Performance
Watching a dance performance online or in-person can provide you with so much inspiration. You might even find a dancer you really admire or dance group you love.
Dance performances can also expose you to new and exciting creative ideas that you haven’t seen before. Dancers constantly need new experiences and inspiration like this to learn how vast the world of dance can be.
12. Set Goals
Setting goals is a great way to find motivation and be inspired to grow further as a dancer. When you create attainable, motivating goals to help you grow in dance class you will feel inspired to work harder.

Reflecting on your dance experiences is important along your personal dance journey. As you grow and change as a dancer you’ll want to reflect on how you feel, how you’re proud of yourself, and how you can continue to move forward.
